implies that the parents and participants, or for those 18 years old or more who are participating as an individual, accept the current membership conditions.
Organisation
The Objectif Sciences International association is a Non-Governmental International Organisation (NGOI) with headquarters in Geneva for the purpose of being closer to the international sessions of the UN regarding topics of Sustainable Development.
The camps are organized by the regional associations which are :
Centre for Scientific Living Europe, at St-Anthème, in Auvergne (France),
- Centre for Scientific Living Canada-USA, at Schawinigan, Quebec (Canada),
- Centre for Scientific Living Pacific, at Hana Iti, on the island of Huahiné (Tahiti),
- Centre for Scientific Living Japan, at Kawazu Onsen, to the south of the Peninsula of Izu (Japan).
Each of these associations scrupulously follows the rules for operation, instruction, security, science and logistics of the Objectif Sciences International association.
The teams of scientific educators work together among the Centres for Scienftific Living.
The Centres for Scientific Living benefit from a common Resource Centre that supports the entirety of their activities for the best possible operation but also to develop numerous pedagogical, scientific and organisational exchanges between the different teams in the association’s host lands.
Expenses for Participation
The registration fees help defray general expenses of the association, which you profit from when you as a contributing member, and are designated as including all taxes.
After paying this donation for expenses, participants have access to the complement of activities of the camp

Reservation of your place in camp is effective as soon as you register on the association’s online shop. A membership account is made at the time of receipt of a duly completed enrollment form, accompanied by the minimum payment of one third of the required fees for participation.
All requirements for the camp must absolutely be completed by 40 days before the training begins. For all late registrations (less than 40 days before the camp), the amount will have to be satisfied at once in its entirety.
After using the online shop to reserve a place, you will receive an email with a form to fill out. In case of non-receipt of this form by email or by post within the next 6 days, the place will be considered as vacated and will be become available again through the online shop.
In case requirements are not met by 40 days before the camp and barring any other news from you, we reserve the right to consider that the participant or the parents have cancelled their stay.
Payments may be made by cheque, bank draft, credit card or CAF gifts or vacation checks.
NB for France : if you use CAF gifts or vacation checks, we would be grateful if you would kindly include them in the same mail that contains the check for the balance, or if need be, send them as soon as possible by separate mail, in order to facilitate the administrative processing.
Changes
by you :
- If you desire to change your stay up until 60 days before the camp’s beginning no charges will be billed to you. If you wish to modify your stay between 60 and 45 days before we will charge a modification fee of 30 €/30 $, and if you desire to change your stay within the 30 preceding days before the camp we will charge a 60 €/60 $ fee.
- If you desire to change transportation, there will be no extra charges beyond the difference between the two transportations if you forewarn us more than 60 days before the departure. If you forewarn us between 60 days and 15 days before, we will charge an additional fee of 40 €/40 $ and if you desire to change transportation within the 15 preceding days before departure we will be obliged to keep the entire payment for the initial transportation.
- The registered participant can yield his contract up to 7 days before the beginning of the camp if the new substitute fills the same conditions as the existing one.
by the association :
- It may be that for reasons not under the control of the association slight changes may be made in the content or organisation of the camp. In such cases, the participant will not be able to ask for reimbursements. By slight modifications we mean changes that influence neither the normal process of the Educational Project prepared by the educators nor the activities that were presented in the catalogue.
Cancellation
by the participant, if you did not take the cancellation insurance that was proposed as an option :
- If you cancel more than 45 days before the departure, a fee of 300 Euros / 300 $ is retained.
- If you cancel less than 45 days before departure, 50% of the Total Amount (camp + travel) is due.
- If you cancel less than 7 days before departure, the entire amount (camp + travels) is retained.
- Once a camp has begun the fees are due in total unless you decided to take the cancellation insurance that is offered as an option.
To know the conditions of the cancellation insurance, see the following paragraph.
on our part :
Objectif Sciences International reserves the right to cancel a camp or to make important modifications if obliged for climatic or material reasons or if the number of participants is less than 50% of the planned number. In this case, we will forewarn you by mail at least 21 days before the beginning of the camp and we will propose a suitable replacement if necessary (notably in case of cancellation). If no replacement solution suits you, Objectif Sciences International will completely and immediately reimburse you for all involved sums.
Optional insurance
Objectif Sciences International and the Centres for Scientific Living underwrote a civil responsibility and repatriation insurance [1] besides their Insurance that covers the course of their activities.
We propose that besides this you should subscribe to supplementary cancellation insurance following this page.
In case of cancellation on your part if you possess cancellation insurance we will reimburse you for the amount of the camp charges minus a fee of 60 €/90 $ plus the insurance, fees as well as any expenses already incurred in the case of cancellation during a camp that had already started for the participant. This insurance is not valid except in case of disease, accident or death of the insured or of a member of his close family (brother or sister, father, mother, in-laws, or grandparents).
Photos and reporting
The participants will allow themselves to be photographed during the camp. They and their parents agree that the photos made by the association members are to be used on the Internet websites of Objectif Sciences International and to illustrate our future pamphlets. They accept as well that TV, radio and press reporting may take place during the camps and that the young people can be interviewed.
Medical expenses
The medical and ambulance expenses that are incurred in case of disease or of accident may sometimes be advanced by the organizing association of vacation camps. By registering a child in a camp, the parents accept in advance to reimburse the entirety of such expenses. It is understood that Objectif Sciences International possesses the necessary documents as the legal representative of the participant so it can ask for the total or partial reimbursement by his Social Security and his mutual insurance company.
Group Living Rules
Living in a group requires certain limitations. For the smooth functioning of the camp, the participants pledge to respect the group life rules in that are announced at the beginning of camp by the educational team. If the camp director notes that he can no longer assume responsibility for a participant whose behavior bothers the others participating, or would negatively impact the functioning of the camp, parents are then bound to undertake all actions necessary to assure his return, without delay and at their own expense. The family will not be able to demand reimbursement and will have to pay all the other charges connected with the dismissal of the participant.
Reserves
The association implements the maximum means necessary for smooth functioning of the camps. Nevertheless the association will not be held responsible in case of exterior events (such as bad weather for example) or not connected with its employees and active members. Nor can the association be held responsible for violence perpetrated by others, truancy, or loss of possessions forgotten by the participants, even if the incident was caused by another participant. Also participants are strongly advised not to bring any valuable items with them. Objectif Sciences International will not be responsible for schedule changes made by transportation companies and train stations, nor additional expenses generated from these causes (notably non-transferable or non-refundable train tickets for your transportation to the departure point for group excursions). We are of course attentive to limiting these inconveniences which remain very rare and in particular by forewarning you as soon in advance as possible about all known changes. To be able to be taken into account legally, all complaints on your part will have to be addressed by formal letter with confirmed receipt within a period of 30 days after return from camp.
Appeals
In case of litigation or the necessity of judicial interpretation of the current membership rules for the vacation camps by a third party the organisers will be subject solely to lawful forms of appeal on which the Centres of Scientific Living depend (High Court of Clermont Ferrand in France, Quebec Court of Dolbeau-Mistassini in Quebec, High Court of Papeete in Tahiti and the Tokyo Court in Japan).
This Court and all other judicial bodies nevertheless will not be able to be appealed to, by virtue of this present text, except if the two parties have first carried out a conflict Mediation before a Mediator chosen and accepted by the two parties and where this mediation failed.
This conflict Mediator will not be called upon unless the two parties had already attempted previously to resolve the disagreement amicably.
[1] Repatriation insurance : in cases where a covered event occurs more than 50 km from their residence, the participants in our activities benefit from a guarantee of assistance. These would all be taken care of :
- Medical and hospitalization expenses for such services engaged locally
- The return home of injured and gravely ill persons
- Travel expenses to attend funerals, in case of death of a close relative (brother or sister, father, mother, in-laws, or grandparents).
